Meeting rooms
SNSUS is both a conference and a meeting place for the Nordic gambling prevention professionals. During SNSUS 2025 before noon the 14th of May we will be able to provide limited possibility to book our conference rooms for participants who want to meet before the conference. Please send an email to niri.talberg@snsus.org if you are interested.
Pre-conference discussion groups
During the first conference day, the 14th of May five different discussion groups are available (see program).
The purpose of the discussion groups is to be able to gather as colleagues over different topics and share insights. Each group has one or two moderators who will prepare to enable good discussions.
You are allowed to change and participate in another discussion group than the one you marked interest for when registering.
Program
The conference program is available here. Note that we do not plan to hand out printed programs at the conference
Tourism
Oslo has good tourism webpage, found here. The organizers recommend those who are able to stay around for the big national day syttende mai celebration on the 17th of May.
Travels
Train: As the conference venue is right next to Oslo central railway station we recommend our Nordic participants to travel by train if possible.
Bus: The main bus station is also right next to the central station and can be the quickest option when travelling to Oslo from the south.
Car: There is a parking garage one block from the conference venue named P-Hus Oslo S.
Airplane: Oslo’s main airport Gardemoen have frequent train connections going to Oslo central station. You can buy tickets online or at the airport when arriving.
The 14th Nordic SNSUS conference marks a milestone in our history. It will be held at the 25 year anniversary of the 1st SNSUS conference, also in Oslo.
The SNSUS conference is about gathering the broad field working with gambling problems and harm prevention in the Nordics. It’s equally a place to listen to great speakers as well as a meeting place for professionals in the Nordics and across different aspects of prevention.
The conference is planned to take place at the Thon Hotel Opera. Right next to the Oslo central train station and the iconic opera house. We have reserved a fixed number of rooms at the venue which we plan to make available at the time we open for registration early January 2025.
The conference ending the 16th of May is no coincidence. We recommend those who are able to stay around for the big national day syttende mai celebration on the 17th of May. Perhaps less known is that the 16th of May is a traditional evening for team football clashes.
At this conference we want to learn more about the emerging gambling generation. We are reading concerning reports about increased underage gambling rates and problems with it. We hear stories about an emerging generation playing online casino in school and as a social part of a night out. Is a new gambling culture emerging? Is there cause for concern?
In regards to the emerging gambling trends we ask ourselves: is prevention keeping up? How should prevention measures be targeted to meet the groups at risk, such as underage casino gambling and growing engagement in crypto- and day trading? Who is responsible to implement it? What experiences do we have – good and bad?
